The Media Society is delighted to invite you to an important constitutional debate that will be hosted by Alastair Stewart at ITN on Wednesday 19 October 2011, 7pm for 7.30pm.
 
CAMERAS IN COURT: A LONG OVERDUE CHANGE OR A STEP TOO FAR?
 
Panel will include:
Baroness Helena Kennedy;
The Right Honourable John Whittingdale; 
Simon Bucks, Associate Editor, Sky News and key campaigner for allowing cameras into court;
John Battle Head of Compliance at ITN and one of leaders of the cameras in court debate;
Fran Unsworth, Head of News Gathering at the BBC, member of the cross broadcaster group for cameras in court, leading the campaign for the BBC.  
 
  
The recent decision by the Ministry of Justice to let cameras into courtrooms to screen judgments has huge implications for both the media and the law. The Media Society is delighted to announce that on 19 October 2011 it will be holding a debate to discuss this issue and bring together the key voices who will shape the reality of cameras in court. ITN has kindly agreed to host this event on behalf of the cross broadcaster working group on cameras in court. 
 
There will be an opportunity to network over drinks after the debate.
