There are a number of other organisations, websites and blogs that we think will be of particular interest to our members.

Journalism.co.uk and the UK Press Gazette are both great sites for the latest media news and jobs for journalists. They also feature some interesting comment pieces and blogs.

The Media Guardian has its finger on the pulse in terms of the most up-to-date developments across all parts of the media. The Independent also has a media section and The Times online business section delivers the latest information on media companies. The Observer Business pages are also useful.

We sometimes arrange events with organisations including Women in Journalism, the Foreign Press Association, POLIS, The Society of Editors and The London Press Club.

Charlie Beckett is the director of POLIS, and a council member of The Media Society. Read his blog here. Adrian Monck, who is Professor of Journalism at - and head of - the journalism school at City University, also writes a blog about issues at the heart of the media.

We work closely with other academic organisations as well, including the Department of Media and Communications at LSE, the London College of Communication (LCC) and the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Westminster University.

The Media Society supports the work of the following organisations

One Young World, a global initiative bringing together the brightest and best of the next generation through the virtual and the real worlds to tackle the most compelling issues of our times - including the Media. The inaugural Summit will be held in London in February 2010.

The Media Trust works in partnership with the media industry to build effective communications for the charity and voluntary sectors.

Voice of the Listener & Viewer (VLV) represents the citizen and consumer interests in broadcasting, and speaks for listeners and viewers on the full range of broadcasting issues.

YouGovStone is an opinion research company that has established a ThinkTank of over 3,000 'influentials' drawn from politics, business, media, the arts, charities and academia. This panel is surveyed online regularly about important issues of the day.
