The Media Society launches a new Substack
The Media Society has unveiled the new Media Society Substack for articles and long-form writing.

Here is how we have described the reasons for the launch in our Substack’s Welcome Post:
Substack
We are launching this Substack for the following five reasons:
1. Creates a new home for Media Writing
Over time, our aim is develop this Substack into one of the key go-to places for writing about the latest media issues - with articles written by leading practitioners and experts in the world of media.
2. Supports our Mission
We strongly believe that the Media Society has a crucial role to play in these troubled media times by providing an impartial and independent platform for the analysis and discussion of important media issues.
This new Substack will further help us with this mission and will broaden our appeal to a wider audience than those who are able to attend our events.
3. Makes us more Multi-Platform
Launching the Substack is in line with our strategy of aiming to reach as wide an audience as possible, around the UK and abroad, by producing content across a range of platforms - on our own website, our YouTube channel, our social media accounts, our podcasts, and, now, on our Substack.
This approach means that people can see and interact with our work in person or online - and, if online, on their platform of choice.
4. Gives us an excellent Writing Platform
We felt we needed a home for long-form journalism and writing. We have been keeping our Media Society website up-to-date, sending out marketing emails, planning our upcoming podcast series, uploading videos to YouTube and TikTok, and posting our content on LinkedIn. But, until now, we haven’t had an outlet for any longer-form writing.
The platform itself is also easy and intuitive to use, and has a long list of useful features, such as discoverablity tools, reader analytics, and well-designed sign-up forms.
5. Provides a new Member Benefit
By offering subscriptions to this Substack to our Media Society members, we are adding another useful member benefit - alongside our other benefits, such as free or discounted entrance fees to our events.
